Hello everyone. I'm a first time poster, but long time lurker. I've been working on using Xith with the NetBeans IDE. As part of that I've had to learn how to integrate both JOGL and Xith into NetBeans for both new and existing NetBeans projects.

I've put together the lessons I've learned into a short tutorial. Currently, the tutorial is 1 page of HTML on my hard drive. I was wondering if this was something the Xith folks would be interested in and if so, how should I provide it to you?

That would bwe great. If you have a blog, post it there and send the link (we should add a blog-post section on the xith homepage). Otherwise add it to the wiki (http://www.xith.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page).

I don't disagree with you about a Xith3D blog, but a concern of mine is that if it's not updated on a somewhat regular basis people who look at it may think the project isn't active.

Another thing I think we should do is post the downloads to the files section on sourceforge. When you post new/more files it helps with your activity percentage.

The sourceforge project page does have a "News" section.  It's currently unused.

I was more refering to a rss feed on the homepage where blog-posts from different xith-users are aggregated. I think it would be more encouraging to write a xith related blog post in an own blog or an existing tech-blog than to post on a xith3d only blog, because users can attract people to their own blog from the xith homepage this way. I think the netbeans guys do this in a clever way.

ah, ok.  Then yea, it probably would be more encouraging to write Xith blog posts.  With more sources I'd think it'd be more likely to generate 'buzz.'

I'm not a web developer, so I don't know what this would take to do.

I'm glad to hear you're interested in the tutorial. I went through all the steps just to make sure I didn't miss anything. Everything looks good.

However, when I try to edit your wiki it says I need to create a new account. When I go to the login/create account page there is an option to log in, but no option to create a new account. In other words, I can't edit the wiki.

Any ideas?

I have no idea. Probably the create account functionality is disabled atm. I will ask marvin why and how to reactivate it or how to add an account for you.

In the meantime I've put the tutorial up at GeoCities. Their HTML editor has a bit of trouble with my Macintosh linefeeds and tabs, turning them into question mark symbols on the final page, but other than that it's good to go.

The tutorial is at http://www.geocities.com/magicjava/XithNetbeansTutorial.html
