Hey Guys,

So only about 2 years since my last post here  Roll Eyes my word time goes quickly.

So how's everything going?  Got some cool projects to share?

I think I mentioned last time that I had been working in the "professional" games world for a few years.  Well now I can share a bit more of what I did.  I landed a job at Big Ant Studios in Melbourne as a programmer back in 2005.  My work on Xith3D and Odejava - both on the API (between 2004 & 2005), and on my projects that used them were essential to getting the job (being able to show demo's of what you can do is an extremely important part of any game development job application).  There I worked on a game called Hellboy: The Science of Evil for the PSP (a quite different game, not a port, compared to the X360/PS3 game of the same name).  I worked on many parts of the game, most notably the trigger/scripting system from which most of the game story, and some of the battles are driven. The development time of this project was about 2 years, and I actually became the Lead Programmer after about 8 months when the then Lead Programmer moved town.

I also contributed to a few other projects in 2008, on the Wii and Xbox360/PS3 but they have yet to be released so I can't talk about them yet.

This year I got the travel bug bad, quit my job and bought a Round The World flight with 16 flights to various countries.  Now I'm approaching the end of this - and am in Shanghai China where I'm thinking of trying to get a work-VISA and stay for a year.

Programming wise I'm taking a bit of a break from the studio game developers, and to pay the bills I've done some stuff for the iPhone including Neonscape, a small puzzle game (critically well recieved, but did not earn much money sadly), and GPS Log a travel application which has done fairly well.  I'm now working on a follow up to Neonscape, with the working title Neonscape2.  Actually the game just uses the 2D iPhone API - not OpenGL, but if I get the time I'll update the rendering engine.  If anyone has an iPhone or iPod Touch and are interested in checking out an early copy of Neonscape2 (and giving me critical feedback), let me know, there are some positions on the beta team.

So anyway, I hope everything's going well for everyone, a special hello to Amos, Marvin, Mathias and hawkwind Smiley

Cheers,
Will

Hey Will,

good to know, you're still alive Smiley. Sounds really interesting, what you've been doing all the time.

Now that you have more time, do you plan contributing to the current SVN trunks of Xith3D or JAGaToo or OpenMaLi? Are there any improvements to the old APIs, that could be ported to the current versions?

Hey William! Thanks for the greetings, same to you =)

I'm now a retired Xith dev Wink So no cool 3D java projects to share unfortunately.

I've gone underground and developed my programming language: http://ooc-lang.org/  &  http://github.com/nddrylliog/ooc

There's now a community quietly growing around it, and we're getting a lot of good press on the interwebs. Interesting projects are sprawling from everywhere, I might even write a game or two in ooc if I manage to find some free time =)

Xith3D still has a special place in my heart, as I'm sure it has in yours. Cool to see we've both moved on successfully in our lives (so far) Wink

We should all have a beer someday Wink

Hi william,

I'm new to the forum and i just read through your post and I’m curious about your Wii and Xbox360/PS3 projects, are you able share with us yet what they are?

I also read that you have been traveling, that is my dream and i will accomplish it on day.

Regards
David
