Please make sure, that you add LayeredNode extensions only directly to a BranchGroup. Otherwise they might get accidently frustum culled. I noticed this for the SkyBox.

Theoretically it was possible to handle this correctly for arbitrary parent groups, but this was at the cost of performance.

I had to exclude the BranchGroup from culling to ensure, that contained LayeredNodes are not culled by accident.

The below screenshot shows the class hierarchy for LayeredNode.

PS: Of course the HUD is always correctly attached, if it is added through the addHUD() method of SceneGraph/Xith3DEnvironment.
