Is there any easy way to start Xith up and get the underlying componetn (Either swing or AWT) and use that. The reason is I want to place Xith into an existing interface, rather than start it out in its own window.

Instead, please use a create() method from Canvas3DCreator which accepts an "owner" parameter, and pass to it e.g. a JPanel. Then you have what you want

Actually, it is called Canvas3DFactory.

There is a class called Canvas3DPanel / Canvas3DJPanel, that you can use to ease things up.

But to directly answer your question: There is canvas.get3DPeer().getComponent(), which returns what you want.
