Have you guys seen this?

http://sourceforge.net/projects/arianne/

It looks pretty good to me although I haven't investigated it.  As soon as I saw it, I thought of everyone here -- especially Amos.

In particular, I thought the following features provide useful extensions to functionality found in Xith3D

http://arianne.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php?title=NetworkDesign
http://arianne.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php?title=DatabaseDesign
http://arianne.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php?title=RolePlayingDesign

Important: This framework also works for real-time games.  It just treats real-time games as time-limited turn-based games; i.e., real-time games are games with turns that must end within X or X/Y seconds.

Indeed. If Mina is not, what we need, this certainly seems to be.

Hmmm... is it fast enough for us ? (e.g a fast-paced FPS like Sauerbraten)

I don't know for sure.  I haven't joined their forums or tried spinning it up or connecting it with Xith.  However, its action/perception delta approach supported by UDP looks pretty good.  Multiplayer pacman is clearly a real-time game with (nearly?) as many perceptions as a typical FPS.  I think the real issue with their technology is that they haven't been integrated with a 3D engine yet.  Oh wait, I think I know a really good one!

Any updates on game engine integration?  Mina or Arianne?

Sorry. No updates from my side. Too much to do.
