Ich habe eine Idee. Benutze Tutorials ;).

Yes, I think so. There's nothing different to a view's transformation and a TransformGroup's.

Well, I have never used it, nor have I developed it. So I can only tell you to try it out. Sorry.

Hi Marvin,

Is it worth to use Scribable feature?

Hi Anton,

IIRC the Scribable interface dates back to David's times. I have never used or needed it. On the other hand it survived my clean ups. I remember, that I once wanted to throuw it out, but decided not to do so. Though I don't remember the reason.

What do you need it for?

Sorry for being late. I was on a vacation. Unfortunately I have nothing new to tell you. I just wanted to show, that your posts are being read. But I don't know more about the terrain code. Sorry.

You're welcome. It's always a pleasure to see the project reviving and someone motivated joining.

Don't hesitate to ask for assistance, if you need some.

Wow, Sourceforge's user search is case sensitive. I tried "Wound" earlier today and it wasn't found.

You're a xith3D dev now :).

Yes, sure I am still very interested in it. Thanks for your effort and your advice.

You're welcome.

Would you like to check it in?

No, just check it in yourself, if it's ok for you. It is not a big change, that I would need my name tag on.

Ah and yes, I would like to follow your invitation into the dev circle of Xith3D.

I need your sourceforge username to add you to the list of developers.

I have adjusted your source code to the current Xith3D API. I don't know, if you're still interested in it.

Btw. it is not true, that you need your project to link to xith-tk. This project is not needed. And that's how it should be.

If you want, I can grant you dev access to the xith3d project.

Hi Wound,

well, some of us are still here. But keeping such a library updated is quite time consuming. While the reasons may be others including loss of interest or scope, time restrictions take a major part in the reasons, why development has stopped.

Unfortunately Open Source projects don't always get people to actually join and contribute to the project. Hey, you're invited to do so. In that case the answer to your initial questions would be: "No, it hasn't stalled, since a new motivated dev has just joined the project." Otherwise I can't say, if or when the project will revive again. If I ever get the time and motivation again to follow my initial dream to create an Ascendancy/MoO2 clone, I will probably use Xith3D. But till then I don't think, I can do much.

So to answer your last question: If you need an actively developed and supported scenegraph library, you should probably watch out for other libraries, and JMonkey has always been a good alternative. If you prefer Xith3D and can effort some time to contribute to the project, if stuff is missing, then there's no reason not to use Xith3D.

I hope this helps. Please let us know about your decision.

Support / Re: Deferred Shading

I see. Interesting approach. Unfortunately I have to admit, that I don't really know, how easily this would be implemented into Xith3D. I guess, you could still travel along the render to texture code to do something like that.

I think, this should work. I even believe to remember, that something like this has been implemented in Xith3D a long time ago. But since it is long ago, I don't remember exactly.

Anyway Xith is able to render into textures and supports vertex and pixel shaders. So this should work the one way or the other.

Hi masm,

welcome to Xith3D.

I don't know, if deferred shading is possible with Xith3D. What is it?  ???

Looks like there's no way (without changes) to define the bounds color on the user side. BoundsAtomPeer.drawBounds() takes a color argument. But the caller (ShapeAtomPeer) doesn't pass anything but null, which defaults to red bounds.

I suggest to make ShapeAtomPeer use some kind of appearance to pass a proper color to drawBounds(). Feel free to change that.

I need to look that up. Please remind me, if I haven't done that over the weekend.
