Hi,
during my work as student for peer to peer research i discovered the possibilities of p2p networks in the world of web 2.0. The basic idea is, that humans need to interact with their environment. This maybe to philosophic for an IT forum but this is the basic intension why humans use the internet as private space. Because its very easy to communicate to other humans and their created content through internet. The internet of private space began with telnet chats continued with irc, forums, blogs & co. and arrived today in social networks. The $64,000 question is: What will be the next step of the internet innovation? May be the interaction between people and their virtual content without limits like wikipedia successfully showed us. Wiki showed me that users can generate, better and categorize their content.
A peer to peer network is made for those tasks and it is free of supervisors who like to control information. My idea is to build up a huge database which stores information over websites and every content which can be stored digitally. Each user can value this content with tags and a relevance for this tag. The p2p part of my project will be hard to implement. The whole project needs a good & innovative user interface to make the underlaying network & information visible (intuitive understandable).
I will get a project page and svn sponsored by my university in future.
Interconnect will be released when my 3d gui is finished.
PS: Has anyone implemented a graph/network visualization in xith?

I don't see, why you would use a 3D lib for something like this, since drawing graphs is just 2D, isn't it? Of course you could render everything to a texture, which is pretty easy in Xith3D. But where's the sense in it?

maybe its not a planar graph so he wants to create a cube-3d-visualisation of the graph  Wink

but a more detailed explanation of your idea what to draw would be very helpfull.

I prefer a 3d ui because you have one dimension more and better support for visual effects.
the basic visualization of a graph can be 2D but represented through 3D objects.
look at the picture. The p2p network contains the data on the picture.
the x and z axis would be used for graph representation. y axis would be a filter function. If you move on y axis it will show only you tube content or wiki articles or torrent files (for example).
The next possibility is to rotate on the x-y-plane which could be used to switch between view modes (view the graph, configure interconnect, view stored bookmarks, show installed plugins and so on).
The game flipside gave me this idea how to represent data and functions on data in an intuitive way.
