Anybody noticed that it's being awfully quiet around here lately?
Whereas, over at jME the place is buzzing.

What exactly do you want to say here? "Go to work, Marvin, or I will switch to jME!"? With only one or two people actually involved in a big project like this and these persons being hobbyists, who cannot put all free time they have in the project, there will naturally be quiet times. There will be times when I and possibly others like Mathias will be doing more. But atm I am simply too busy with other tasks.

I don't see anyone criticizing anyone else's work. With only one or two people actually involved in a big project like this and these persons being hobbyists, who cannot put all free time they have in the project, there will naturally be quiet times.
There is a phrase that goes: "Two makes a crowd." That should be a sign of success. There will be times when I and possibly others like Mathias will be doing more. But atm I am simply too busy with other tasks.

I see a lack of social postings like jokes and conversations. Things like that tend to attract more site traffic.

Don't take it personally Marvin. We know you and cylab checks this forum everyday. I was more referring to the fact we don't seem to have newbie questions from, well, newbies.
Or like shatterblast said, no idle chatters, etc.

Dude!!! Some of us work for a living. I dont post much because Marvins current source meets all of my needs, I only fuss when I want new stuff As to JME...they are in disarray, the primary folks have peeled off into an entirely new source based Ardor3D...some time noise is just noise.

Hey, just an idea: if the amount of Xith3D users increases, wouldn't life here increase automatically?
I can just talk from my personal experience: even if xith is a wonderful framework, using it the 2nd time for a project I can say the most time I fight with the sparse API-documentation. My extensive Java3D knowledge helps a lot, and I wouldn't know how it would feel without. Java3D seems to go down, so I don't know how easy new users come into the scene graph concept and the xith framework without.
Imho it would help a lot, if the API gets fully documented one day.

This is a great idea . And it would be awesome, if you could join the team as a documenter. I guess, you would be one of the best personos for this job. Deal? Marvin

I guess, you would be one of the best personos for this job. Deal? Really? What an honor. What leads you to this opinion? Deal? Hmmm. Would I get then one of this cool titles as well? OK, kidding aside. I would be interested in joining the team, even if I thought more about creating a graphical user interface. I could spend a few hours per week, if you would support me where I need help to understand the API.

Really? What an honor. What leads you to this opinion?
You said, you have a lot of experience with Java3D. And I suppose, you also know its JavaDoc. Hmmm. Would I get then one of this cool titles as well? These are custom titles. I think, anyone can give himself a title like that. Though IMHO you should first earn the right to do that . OK, kidding aside. I would be interested in joining the team, even if I thought more about creating a graphical user interface. I could spend a few hours per week, if you would support me where I need help to understand the API.
Sure, no problem. Please send me your sourceforge nick, so that I can grant you dev access. Marvin

I'm sorry I have not been active for several weeks.
Real life intervened. If time time permits, I too will also continue adding more meat to our JavaDocs.

@roslamir: See? The fact that real life intervened for you answers to your original post.
As far as I can remember, Marvin has been doing a *great* work on the Xith3D codebase.
What the project is cruelly lacking, ever since a few of us have left (and you gotta grant me that one - for seniority), is a community leader.
Answering to every forum subject and fixing every reported bug is simply not enough.
Now that I'm off working on my programming language, I have a community to take care of. IRC helps a lot. Twitter is also a great tool for open source projects this time. Getting big names interested by the project is always good. Building a community is almost as much (if not more) important than developing the tech. Ultimately, the people win.
As sad as it may be, jME has been winning on the buzz side for several years now.
Xith3D is an amazing piece of software. It really is. I have read the code, used it extensively, and I would recommand it first-hand for any 3D Java game programmer.
However, we sucked (and still do) at selling ourselves.
I wish I had realized this back when I was very active on xith, and now I can only wish you guys good luck!
Congrats again for the hard work, Marvin & all.

Thanks, man. I hope, I can do more work again in the near future. I am pretty much through with my rFactor HUD plugin. Marvin

Ha Ha JME is hosed, Renase left to run Ardor3D due to the the lack of direction when N developers slammed multiple changes into JME
