They already exist  Smiley.  Try checking out the constructors of, say, Panel or Button widgets (the alpha parameter).  Also, Panel has a Color4f (red, green, blue, alpha) option.  I'm not sure about the other components, but then again I haven't checked  Undecided.

Well, he was talking about real OpenGL multitexturing (in the chat). But I guess, example screenshots would make it much easier to understand.

The concept is called "Alpha Composites" where the textures are blended. See http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/java/awt/AlphaComposite.html for Sun's implementation.

Are you sure, this can't be achieved by placing two Image Widgets over another?

not positive. i noticed two line widgets that cross do blend. my images never seemed to be even transparent and definitely not blended. i'm sure it could be hacked with alpha channels, but that isn't true blending.

Just a suggestion to be more like Sun's API work, which was one of the original objectives of Xith to be like Sun's API work.

Well, it was born as a Java3D clone. But now it is much more and doesn't necessarily imitate the Java3D API.

With TransparencyAttributes you can get the effect you want.

I think it would be great if you show some screenshots properly.
